New Information: Title VII of the Civil Rights Act—On June 15, 2020, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that employment discrimination based on sexual orientation or transgender status violates federal law under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.  All employers covered under Title VII are prohibited from discriminating against applicants or employees based on sexual orientation or transgender status (EO-19).

New Information: Overtime Rules— effective on January 1, 2020, new minimum salary threshold for overtime exemption under the FLSA. Under the new regulations, employees will have to earn at least $684 per week ($35,568 per year) in order to be exempt from overtime pay (C-51 to C-54);  permissible deductions from an exempt employee’s salary (C-56).
